Day 134 - Random Actor(s) Tuesday: Magazine Cover Bunch

Day 134.

It takes a lot of random actors to make a movie. But the sad truth of it is, most of these random actors end up unnoticed and even uncredited--you know, as in they don't even appear in the credits! Apparently, their faces were good enough to be in Julie & Julia, but their names were not. Random Actor Tuesday was founded to show my appreciation for those who are consistently overlooked--the aspiring Brandos and Hepburns of Julie & Julia. And perhaps no actors have gone more unheralded than the Magazine Cover Bunch.

Here's a story. Of a terrible lady. Who was featured on the cover of
New York Magazine with three random actors.

For those of you who haven't seen the film, this brief shot of the cover of this fictional issue of New York Magazine occurs right after the unbearable Cobb Salad Lunch scene. The article, which was written by Julie's "friend" Annabelle, paints Julie as a washed-up loser:
"Julie Powell, once the editor of the Amherst literary magazine, the one we all knew would be 'The One,' temped for eight years before giving up on her novel and now works in a cubicle as a mid-level bureaucrat, attempting to deal with the after-effects of 9/11."
Et tu, Annabelle? That was petty uncool of her. The movie never elaborates on the three other people on the cover (thankfully so), but I'm assuming they are supposed to be other members of the "lost generation." I guess if the entire generation is already lost, 3 more casualties won't hurt. But wait, no--that's not fair. Everyone deserves recognition! Even if they're not even technically actors!

Guido George Clooney

At first, this guy reminded me of Adam Levine (from Maroon 5) if he had let himself go in the next 20 years, but I settled on Guido Clooney instead. I mean, he's not nearly as good-looking as Clooney, but he's got the scruff. Plus, he looks like a pretty serious dude, aside from the spray-on tan.

2nd Divorce Lady

Why do all of these people look so unhappy? I mean, dammit, you're on the cover of a magazine! That's fucking cool! Anywho, this woman just looks like she's going through her second divorce and dealing with the ramifications of that. Which kind of sucks. I mean, you don't even have the novelty factor of getting divorced for the first time. Like, she's clearly just going through the motions. Can't even derive enjoyment from a good divorce.

Ohio State Sports Blogger

One would think that Ohio State must have lost something right before this photo was taken, which explains why this fellow looks so down in the dumps. Or maybe he's just realizing that he's a portly white guy who's spent the past 5 years writing a sports blog that no one reads. I can think of worse things to do with one's time.

Only 231 days to go...

Ladies and gentlemen, your Magazine Cover Bunch! We may never know their names, but why does that even matter? In the end, we're all going to meet the same fate. We spend years living in obscurity, followed by death. Nothing we ever do will make a lasting impression on anyone. It's a sad, but essential truth. The world was this way before we were in it and will remain the same long after we leave it. What's really the point of it all...?

RANDOM ACTOR TUESDAY!!!
