Day 220 - The Iron Lady

Day 220.

Meryl Streep is a brilliant actress. We all know this. So allow me to share a few of her great lines with you all.

"I may be persuaded to surrender the hat."

"The pearls, however, are absolutely non-negotiable."

"That's the tone that we want to strike."

Wait, hold on a second. Those lines aren't from Juile & Julia! And I, of all people, should know! But they seem to fit so well--as if they were... somehow just meant to come out of Meryl Streep's mouth in a goofy, high-pitched accent...

Ahhh, it all makes sense now! It's the newly-released trailer for The Iron Lady, the definitive spiritual successor to Julie & Julia. And I don't know about you all, but I thought Meryl was channeling Julia Child pretty hard there. I mean, that dialogue could have easily been straight lifted from an early draft of Julie & Julia. Un-fucking-canny.

But anyways, a movie that has Meryl Streep playing another iconic historical figure and nailing her distinct accent and mannerisms in the process? Looks like this little number is finally going to make up for the Oscar she should've gotten in 2009.
